Hedorah is a vile monster hell-bent on destruction. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be soft and furry! That’s right own this great Godzilla monster in a cute and fluffy plush form!

   When I initially saw a listing for a Hedorah toy , I was wondering what the end result would be. Anyone that remembers Hedorah from classic Godzilla probably remembers where Hedorah came from Godzilla Vs Hedorah; he was a nasty little monster that was known as The Smog Monster and wasn’t someone you’d want to take home to mother. Like many of Godzilla’s famed fiends he was an environmental piece of happenstance, and those types of things aren’t normally enshrined in toys.

   A 12″ tall oil slick with situational set flocks of birds wouldn’t be uber-sexy, after all, and a smog monster doesn’t sound like it would fit the frame of funtastic.

   Still, it is Toy Vault and they make good stuff.

   Hedorah is essentially a furry little playpal here, looking all buff and feeling pretty good. He doesn’t really capture the look of the original Hedorah perfectly (hence the low educational value), but time makes monsters more dynamic and I could buy the change. Besides, change is sometimes good and, as is the case with computers and cars, smog monsters also look good when they enter this brave new world.

   I personally like the change, like the fact that Godzilla has some old friends, and like the fact that Hedorah was even made. People should take this little guy home and let him and Godzilla chill for a while.

   Recommended for those who know who Hedorah is and love their Godzilla. You know who you are.
